A few samples of some of my popular images:
I came across this beautiful entrance to a ranch in Kauai, HI and had to grab this image. The contrast of the colorful blooming trees against the green background really caught my attention when I was passing by, as I am sure it would anyone.
I still love the color in the first image below, but I altered the same shot to create the second image below. It is monotone for the most part, but I found myself loving this version of the image too! I feel like a lot more of the vegetation detail and lines of the landscape are visible in this version. I think each version plays a role to different tastes and moods, so I wanted to share both with you and not deprive you of either ;)
For me, the color image is more lively and fun, pretty, gorgeous and full of life. Makes me happy looking at it. The monotone image is more contemplative, older, wiser – more of a slow down and introspect kind of feeling.
Which do you like better and why?
My wife and I recently visited Kauai, HI. We went there for our honeymoon 2 years ago and loved it so much that we went back. It is so beautiful there, I highly recommend it to anyone who has not been! They call it the “Garden Isle” for a reason – 360 degrees of beautiful, raw nature.
While there I took my camera, of course, and attempted to capture they way I saw the island, the beauty. Below is a collection of those images. I singled out a few below and then put the rest in a gallery below these. I hope it gives you a sense of “Ahhh” :)
I was listening to Awake and Alive by Skillet today ad found it inspiring. I have heard it plenty of times before, but today the words resonated with some of the issues that are going on in my life. I wanted to share in case it resonates with any of you:
I’m at war with the world
And they try to pull me into the dark
I struggle to find my faith
As I’m slipping from your arms…
I’m awake, I’m alive
Now I know what I believe inside
Now it’s my time
I’ll do what I want ’cause this is my life
(Here, right now)
Right here, right now
Stand my ground and never back down
I know what I believe inside
I’m awake, and I’m alive…
Of course there are more lyrics, but these stood out to me. It feels victorious, ya know? Like – I am better than these things that have been draining me and I can rise above it and succeed!
These casual photos represent a feeling of peace or victory to me:
We have what it takes to succeed!
See ya later
